The villa I stayed in at St. John was built into the side of a mountain, at a fairly high altitude, and the deck looked out over Great Cruz Bay. The moonlight reflecting off the black water looked awesome.

Moonlight shots are hard. I bet it looked awesome in person. I like the clouds here.

Yeah, I can't decide what to do with that blown out moon. Whether to leave it, remove it, or try to leave it but make it less bright and figure out how to remove the halo.

It's a tough call.

Clone some clouds over the moon leaving a bit brighter, leave the halo. Other than that I love the shot!

Per your suggestion...Is this what you were getting at? LMK what you think.

Pretty close. I might leave a bit of a glowing "dot" where the moon is. I only thought of this because of how the moon looked behind some clouds this evening.

What do you think of the general idea? Kinda looks like a spotlight right now. Add the Bat Signal! ;-)

Pretty, i like the water i think the moon in your second shot is covered to much, you have that reflection in the water and with that much cloud cover would the reflection i the water be that bright. Does that make sense. I really have no clue what im talking about though i suck at moon shots.

I really love the water in this shot. I agree with above. You might try cloning at lower opacity. I'd bet it would turn out perfectly.

Alright, version 3. Too much moon dot? Not enough?

I like it. But, it only matters what you think. ;-)

Well I like the last one best, but I didn't get there without the group's input. It's a learning process to figure out what attributes to keep/remove/change to make it the most appealing image possible.

Thanks everyone. :)

desaturate the halos around the moon
